10 Reasons You Aren’t Loving Your Life Right Now

heart love your life

What’s it all for anyway? You are tired of the struggle. Just as soon as you get your life to where it doesn’t suck, something else happens to turn your life upside down. Or maybe, you are content in your life. But, that’s it. You are just content. Going through the motions. But you aren’t loving your life.

Did you know that you are meant to love your life?  You are here to experience unlimited joy, freedom, and bliss. Before you do the eye roll (because you are scared), let me tell you it’s true. It really is possible for you be loving your life right now. Every second (almost) of it!

10 Reasons You Aren’t Loving Your Life Right Now

1. You Are Playing The Pretend Game

We actually hate being the ones responsible for our own lives. We want to make it someone else’s fault. So, we pretend we don’t know what to do next. We give our power away. We act like we don’t know what the next step is that we need to take, and then we ask everyone else for advice. When we pretend we don’t know what to do, we deny our own soul. So, it’s time for you to stop pretending. Get deep. Get back in touch with your intuition and listen to what your soul is begging you to do. You won’t be happy until you do.

2. You Are Your Own Rerun Show

“Sometimes people let the same problem make them miserable for years when they could just say, So what. That’s one of my favorite things to say. So what.”― Andy Warhol, The Philosophy of Andy Warhol

Have you ever stopped to realize there seems to be a theme to your life? You keep repeating the same patterns over and over. If you have a hard time looking at yourself, look at your friends first. Ever notice that the thing they keep asking for advice about is the same thing over and over? Now look at you. Could you be doing the same thing?

Maybe you keep getting rejected over and over, or anger keeps showing up, or people keep pointing out the same issues to you over and over. Ever notice that the same thing keeps happening in all of your relationships? Ever notice that the common denominator in all of these stories is you? Your soul has come here to learn certain things and you have attracted the people and scenarios to help you learn them. And, these same scenarios will keep happening until you do. Tired yet? Take an honest look, and see what life might be asking you to learn.

3. You Haven’t Learned That You Don’t Know Shit

Oh, we like to pretend we are the all-knowing guru who has all our shit together. We are right and everyone else is wrong. If only everyone else would do it our way. How is that working out for you? If what you have been doing hasn’t been working, could you be open to knowing that there is a different way? People come into our lives to teach us things. How about keeping your mouth shut for a minute and listening to what they came to teach you.

4. You Are Bullshitting Everybody

We are afraid to be completely honest with one another. We are afraid that if someone knows our deepest fears or insecurities that they won’t like us anymore, or worse, that they will use them against us. And, so we hide. And, then we feel like no one understands us. When you don’t reveal your true self, then you aren’t being understood anyway. No, not everyone will appreciate your honest self. But, wouldn’t you rather surround yourself with a few people who love and appreciate your real self, then surround yourself by a lot of others who don’t even know who you truly are. Start by being 100 percent honest, and taking no less than that from others.

5. You Are An (Out Of) Control Freak

When you live life like it’s a script that everyone should follow, you don’t give life a chance to show up and surprise you. Have you noticed that the best parts of life are the parts that you didn’t plan out? They just happened. Without your input. That’s where the magic is! Often, people try to control things because they have great fear. Let your fears go. You really aren’t in control anyway. Let yourself be the observer for a minute. Let others choose to show up how they want to show up. Live life with your hands open instead of living it with a clenched fist. Don’t even try to control your own life. Live in the flow and let life lead the way. Let yourself draw good things towards you instead of going out and hunting it down. You will have a lot more fun, and you will be more relaxed when good things come your way.

6. You Have Too Many Lame-Ass Excuses

You have created an excuse for everything. You have excuses as to why your life is stuck on repeat, as to why it’s everyone else’s fault, as to why you aren’t creating the life you want. As to why you are procrastinating. As to why you’ve have it harder than anyone else. You done yet? What if you stopped lying to yourself and started taking responsibility for your own life. Don’t you deserve to have a life you love?

7. You Didn’t Just Fall In A Rut-You Furnished It

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut. We fear change, so we let things stay the same. Do something different, even if it’s small. Listen to music you wouldn’t normally listen to. Just for a day. Try a new restaurant. Talk to someone who you normally wouldn’t even say hello to. Then expand bigger. Travel to a new country. Move to a new country. Quit your job. Move out of your house. Go live on a boat. Break free. Get new edges for the you, you have so carefully designed. Hell, get a new center for that matter. If you aren’t loving your life, there’s a reason. Fix it.

8. You Don’t Love Yourself

Learning to love yourself is hard. We judge ourselves harshly. We aren’t patient with ourselves. Hell. Most of the time, we don’t even trust ourselves. Take time to connect with your soul. When you connect with your soul, you will see and feel the glorious being that you are. Are you going to screw up in life? Oh, yeah. But that’s just you experiencing what you came here to learn. Dump self-esteem and invite in self-belief which means accepting yourself exactly as you are right now. Fall in love with the true being that you are and give that being the same extreme care and patience that you would give a lover whose total being you see, deeply accept, and love.

9. You’ve Forgotten Your Vagina Is 8 Miles Wide (Yes, Even The Men)

How long have you been playing small to be accepted? You have an enormous gift to offer this world. You are a vigantic shining light, and the world needs you. ALL of you. So stop hiding who you are. The world will thank you. And those who don’t. They can suck it. (thanks, Storm!)

10. Ack, Growing Pains!

Ok, do you think you are gonna love your life like every single second? Probably not? Because sometimes, you have to grow. And, you aren’t gonna always love those moments. They aren’t usually comfortable. But, if you can keep that in mind, you can even love those moments for what they are.

7 Things To Balance In Your Life

balance in your life

Next to love, balance is the most important thing.- John Wooden

I have noticed that in yoga, I struggle with the balance poses the most. This realization showed me that when I am struggling in life, it’s also because something isn’t in balance. Absolutely everything in life is about balance. I want to be more conscious of where I can bring more balance to my everyday life instead of just letting life happen to me.

Here are 7 things to balance in your life:

1. How Often You Live In Your Head vs. How Much You Live In Your Body

We often live our days from the neck up. We stay in our minds, and we forget to notice how our body is moving through life. I want to pay more attention to my movement, my posture, the way a breeze might be moving against my skin, or the way my body either opens or contracts when someone else moves close to me.

2. Rest vs. Activity

I want to make sure I also give myself time to reflect on my life instead of always getting caught up in activity and doing. I want to allow my mind to rest in meditation, or allow my body to just do nothing without feeling guilty. But, I also want to make sure that each day is full of motion and never becomes stagnant. To create a good balance in your life, make sure you allow time for both rest and activity.

3. Spontaneity vs. Planning

I love to have everything planned out. But, I’ve learned that if I always follow the plan, I can miss out on some beautiful spontaneous moments. So, I’m learning to let go, and tune in more to what I really feel like doing in the moment. If I am walking down the street and happen to see a beautiful tree that I want to sit under for a moment, I allow myself to do so. If I wake up, and decide to go out for breakfast rather than having the breakfast I had planned at home, I do that. If a friend calls and wants me to join them on an unexpected adventure, I join them. I also no longer plan every second of my day, so I can allow time for unplanned moments to occur. You may benefit from being more of a planner, planning out your goals and being less of a procrastinator.

4. Giving vs. Receiving

I admit it. I am a much better giver than I am a receiver. I need help learning how to receive. I have a hard time being vulnerable, which receiving makes me feel. I am learning to be more open and to let myself receive. Some people have a hard time knowing how to give. It’s a balance that, once learned, can improve our relationships with others and with the Universe itself. It’s not enough to manifest what we want to see happen in our lives. We then must learn to receive it as well.

5. Your Shadow Side vs. The Light You Show

None of us are perfect. We all have a shadow side that we don’t like to admit is there. I have learned that the shadow side of me: the fear, the anger, the insecurities, jealousy, and pain, just wants to be noticed and embraced by me. When I pretend it isn’t there, it has no hope of being transformed into something more. I have found that shame can only be lifted by meeting the dark where it is. Darkness itself is a great transformer. It has shown me where I need to own my shit. Seeing what I’ve seen in the dark has let me bring great healing and love to the issues I still have to work on.

6. Boundaries vs. Openness

balance in your life

“Your attachment to unhealthy people and bad habits, which offer you no real control, is why you’re spiritually dying and living a life out of balance.” ― Shannon L. Alder

I am an open person. I am open to new experiences, thoughts, and other people. But, I often found myself in relationships where I was taken advantage of. I am learning now to no longer stop at mean-spirited roadhouses, even if I once had a great time at that roadhouse. Many times we get caught up in how someone used to treat us, that we still hold on even when they are being unkind. I have learned to move on if that is the case. Since setting boundaries, I also attract better people into my life. You may have the problem of not being open enough. If you are moving through life without feeling deeply known by people, maybe it’s time to open yourself a little more. There is a perfect balance which will leave you feeling more fulfilled in your relationships.

7. What I Spend vs. What I Save

I have always been a good saver (kind of goes with the planning thing.) I am learning to let go and enjoy myself more and allow myself to occasionally splurge on myself and things that I enjoy. I no longer look for the cheapest hotel room when traveling. I now look for the one that has character, yet that’s not overpriced. I am now working to live with things more in balance, so that I enjoy the money I have worked hard to make, yet, I still have some saved aside for future financial goals as well.

Hopefully, these areas will give you ideas of other areas of life where you can create balance in your life. Let me know what you are trying to balance in your life by leaving a comment below!

We’re All Brave Until We Realize The Cockroach Has Wings-How To Be Brave And Conquer Your Fears

You finally do it. The thing you were afraid of. And, then that thing you were afraid of actually happens. Only that thing happens to be bigger and scarier than you thought it would be. You wind up with your heart broken, losing money, or back to where you started. How do you rise up and conquer those scary things instead of hiding under the covers? How to be brave in spite of it all? How do you use those cockroaches wings to hitch a ride on instead of letting a few transparent wings stop you? You do this by being courageous and not letting anything get in your way. You’ve got what it takes. You know you do. Here’s what you do.

How To Be Brave

1. Stop Waiting For Anyone To Rescue You

I can’t tell you the number of people I’ve met who are waiting to travel until they meet a person they can travel with, who are waiting to find the right business partner before launching their business, who are basically waiting for someone else to come kick-start their life. I’ve got news for you. Prince Charming is a myth. It’s time you kiss yourself on your own lips and get going with your own life. You can change your life in a split second. If you really want to, you can do it now.

“Darling,
with urgency,
begin to live for you.”
— Ijeoma Umebinyuo

2. Admit Your Fears

You know why that roach with the wings scares us so much? Because we were trying to put up a façade of false bravery. We were trying to say, “Who me?” I’m not of afraid of a stupid little cockroach. (When, really all along we were.) But that thing shows it’s wings, and we are so running for our lives. It’s OK. Admit to yourself what you are scared of. Everyone is afraid of something. Then, make friends with your fear. See what it’s trying to teach you about yourself. You have to admit your fears before you can confront them.

3. Try New Things (Especially Ones You Know You Won’t Be Good At)

So many people keep themselves in a rut and wonder why their life isn’t that exciting. They are so afraid of what others will think of them, that they don’t try new things they don’t think they will be good at. Shake yourself up a bit and do something new, especially something that you don’t think you will be any good at. Plan to be terrible at it. But, also plan to have fun. Plan to laugh a lot. Especially at yourself. Laughing at yourself helps you take life less seriously and helps you become fearless. You realize that it’s OK to fail miserably, do stupid things, and have everyone laugh at you. You realize that life really isn’t the serious thing we make it out to be. I love Meetup.com  for finding new activities that I may not have thought about doing and meeting new people who I otherwise may not have met.

4. Invite A Stranger For Tea (Or Coffee, Or A Pop Rocks Margarita, Or Chocolate Milk)

When’s the last time you invited a perfect stranger to do something with you? We get so used to hanging out with the same people. This can severely limit us. Get to know as many people as you can. Every person has their own unique way of looking at the world. Yep, every single one. And, they will all see things differently than you. So expand the way you see things by finding out how someone else lives in the world. And for God’s sake, when you are with them, put down your phone.

5. Stop Being A Control Freak

There are lots of things you can’t control. You can’t control whether that wing-bearing cockroach is going to fly at your face. You can’t control how people will react to you. You can’t control most of what happens to you every day. You will lose your power if you try to control the things that you can’t. But, when you focus your energy on what you can control, you will move mountains. You can control whether or not you will move past your fear and take action. You can control that you will do something to change the situation that you are in now. And you can control the fact that you will choose to look at everything that happens to you as one big adventure. You can choose to have a whole lot of fun along the way. If you want to learn how to be brave, realizing there are things you can’t control and stopping the wasting of energy to try to control those things is probably the biggest step you will take.

You want to know the biggest secret of how to be brave? The biggest secret is you. Realize that you have the ability to call the entire world to the magnificence of your being. Realize your potential and do it now.

How To Own Your Sh*t

own your shit

Myrtle by Carrie Hilgert

It’s an easy thing to do. You blame others for all the ways your life isn’t working. You use the same excuses over and over again. Your bad childhood. You say that others made you into a victim. You think you’ve had a hard life.

Or, you can start changing that story. See, your beliefs are the key as to why things happen to you over and over. You keep saying it. That people always take advantage of you. They aren’t kind to you. But, the only thing that the world can do is mirror back to you what you believe.

You’ve got to start by realizing that you deserve everything good. That you are worthy of being treated better. Start realizing that you really can change what happens to you by believing in a new story.

own your shit

When you take personal responsibility for your life, and stop blaming other people, The Secret, your guru, or your horoscope for what happens to you, you will see that you have the ability to change your entire life, right now! Take a moment and think about what’s stopping you from creating the life you want to create.

OK, are you done with the excuses? Yes, there will be challenges and obstacles along the way, but most of what’s stopping you is in your head. These things are called fears, and it’s up to you to overcome them. No one is going to do it for you. Nothing is going to change the things that have already happened to you. In fact, it’s up to you to use the things that happened to you in the past for what they taught you. Use those difficulties to your advantage. Use the patterns of the things that keep happening to you to your advantage. Let them show you where you need to change your thinking or your behaviors. Let them see where you need to own your shit.

own your shit

What Happens When You Own Your Shit

When you own your shit, you start getting to know who you really are. When you come to know your shadow side as well as your sparkly light-filled side, you become powerful. You become honest with where you are holding yourself back. When we don’t start by being brutally honest with ourselves, we become our own roadblock. When you start asking yourself hard questions and start loving all of yourself, including those dark shadowy places, that’s when the real you can emerge. You will start to have a more authentic relationship with yourself and with others, too.

So, it’s time to get real honest. Get real honest about what’s not working. Then start working on that.

And, while you’re learning how to own your shit, don’t forget to take responsibility for the good things happening in your life, too. You cause millions of things to go right in your world every day. You are pretty awesome, and it is only by recognizing the wonders that you do that you will be able to take an honest look at where you can do better. Yeah, we all screw up. And that’s OK. It doesn’t make you any less lovable or awesome. Start owning your shit, the good and the bad. Because once you start owning your shit, that’s when you realize you have the power to change it.

Are You A Spiritual Junkie? Then You Are Part Of The Problem.

spiritual junkie

You are feeling pretty proud of yourself right now. You do yoga and meditation every day. You have visited every spiritual healer you could find and are now plowing your way through the “Best Spiritual Books” list.  In fact, you are actually thrilled right now. You are feeling inspired by all the self-help stuff you have read. And, you make sure to pin at least five Spiritual quotes per day on Pinterest.

First, of all let me say. If you are working on yourself and getting healed and taking time to meditate, that’s awesome. But, let me tell you something, my friend. It doesn’t stop there. That thrill that you feel. That’s not what change feels like. That feeling is the feeling of the spiritual junkie numbing themselves out on inspiration, so they don’t have to make the real changes that are needed for the world.

Are You A Spiritual Junkie?

If your life is full of spiritual activities, but you have no vision as to what you are going to bring to this world and what your purpose is here, then you are a spiritual junkie. If you are reading all of the right books, but your life isn’t changing, then you are a spiritual junkie. If you are sending out thoughts of loving kindness to the world, but you can’t reach out to your friend who is obviously hurting inside, then you are a spiritual junkie. If you are afraid of being vulnerable and keep a mask of positivity up while practicing your affirmations when, really, your world is falling apart, then you are a spiritual junkie. If you can’t let a conversation go by without mentioning those beings from other realms, while you are doing absolutely nothing about this dimension, then you are a spiritual junkie. If you are waiting for the Universe to make everything perfect before taking the next step, then you are a spiritual junkie. You can’t hide in your meditation bubble forever. Break away from the drum circle for just one minute and realize, “We are part of the problem.”

Yes, spiritual activities are a wonderful inspiration and healing force in our lives, but if you aren’t actually taking action, then you are just using them for the “high” they give you, and everything in this world is going to stay exactly the same. Are you OK with that? Are you OK with letting your fear and your laziness stop you from making this place better? Are you OK with your excuses that you need to work so many hours so you can buy expensive furniture for your house that you never even have time to sit on, or that you just really aren’t ready and need to go to your forty-third healing session before you have anything to give this world? The world needs you NOW. If you haven’t noticed, it’s kind of falling apart.

I’ll be honest with you. That thrill that you have now, that feeling of bliss that just around the corner that’s when you will start to live your purpose, but, boy, are you inspired and so ready to kick ass when the Universe tells you the time is right. That feeling is going to turn into sheer terror when you really start to live your purpose. Because, you will be risking everything to do so. And, you are going to know that it’s so important that you do so, that you aren’t going to want to screw it up.

That comfortable, floaty feeling you have right now is going to turn into discomfort and hard work. Because, every time we decide to make a change, some hard work is involved. There is ALWAYS something we will have to give up in order to have something new. But, then, you are going to come out on top. And that floaty feeling you have right now is going to surge into pure ecstatic bliss, because finally you will see why you read all those spiritual books and are doing all those hours of meditation. They are there to show you the path. And, finally, you chose to walk it.

And, if you see yourself in this, there is nothing wrong with you. All of us have been guilty of using something to numb out. Whether it’s alcohol, drugs, social media, TV, or spiritual activities, we have all used something to numb us from the fact that there is something we can be doing right now. But, we don’t want to believe that we have what it takes. Do you know how enough you are? How worthy you are? Use that healing and those spiritual teachings to teach you that, and then take what you have learned and share it with the world. This world that needs you right now. Just as you are. You are perfect right now. Don’t let them shame you into feeling you aren’t enough. You are.

Don’t let your spiritual activities numb your fear of making a change right now. You are ready. Right now. Just as you are. You’ve got to do more than just pray for change. It’s time to be the change. Stop thinking about what you are going to do someday, and do it now.

Know that there are others. Others like you are just waiting to help you. It’s time to take off the Buddha mask and admit that you are touched by what is happening in our world. Show your pain. Show your tears. Show your anger. Show your rage. And then do something about it.

If your vision is to start living your purpose right now and changing the world right now, I want to help!

Let’s chat. Email me at [email protected] to schedule some time with me. I want to help you quiet your fears and get to a place of freedom.

Are You Tired Of Life? This Could Be The Reason Why

tired of life

If you have never found something so dear and precious to you that you will die for it. Then you are not fit to live. You might be 38 years old as I happen to be, and one day you are called upon to stand up for some great principle or cause, and you refuse because you are afraid.

You refuse to do it because you want to live longer. You are afraid that you will lose your job. You are afraid that you will be criticized by others. You are afraid that you will lose your popularity, or you are afraid that somebody will stab you, or shoot at you, or bomb your house. So you refuse to take a stand.

Well you may go on and live to be 90 years old, but you are already dead. You died when you refused to stand up for right. You died when you refused to stand up for truth. You died when you refused to stand up for justice. Don’t ever think that you are by yourself.

Go to jail if necessary, but you never go alone. Take a stand for that which you know is right. The world might misunderstand you and criticize you, but you are never alone. One with God is the majority—-DR. KING (from the Autobiography of Dr. King)

Why You Are Tired Of Life

There is a very good reason you might be feeling tired of life right now. You were born into this world with a purpose. But, chances are you have succumbed to society’s conditioning. You have bought into consumerism. You have been fooled into buying a bunch of useless junk (junk that still didn’t make you happy), and instead of having time to live the life you work so hard for, you are stuck with the same Monday-Friday routine, the same monotony with only the weekends left to follow your dreams. Only then, you are so tired from the rest of the week, that you use the weekends to zone out, to sleep, and do nothing to create the kind of life that you want to be living.

tired of life

Why You Don’t Feel Fulfilled

Your soul isn’t going to let you rest any longer. It knows that you are living a lie, and it’s trying to do everything it can to wake you up. As you will see in the video at the end of this article, Spencer Cathcart got it right.

You have sold your soul to work for the elite of this world, those who hunger for power and control. And, you have given it freely to them in exchange for worthless pieces of paper that you think will give you happiness and security. As Spencer says, “Their most valuable resource is not in the ground. It is us. They gave us money and, in return, we gave them the world.”

tired of life

We live in a world that is being destroyed, and, by not doing anything about it, we are part of the destruction. So, we choose instead to zone out with our Smartphones. We let our lives become filled with unimportant Facebook statuses and pretty pictures on Pinterest and completely miss what is really going on. So, yeah, no wonder you are tired of life. You will continue to feel this way until you actually start living it.

How To Stop Feeling Tired Of Life

If you want to stop feeling tired of life, then create a life that is worth living. Is this really the life you want? The one where you are overworked, stressed out, burned up, and chronically busy?

Stop being what they told you to be, and start living your passions and following your dreams. And, don’t just focus on yourself. When you focus on others, your life will take on meaning again. You will see that you are needed. Also, you will see the gifts that you have to offer this world, and why we need you to start being a part of it instead of just an observer.

We all want someone else to bring change, but it just doesn’t work that way. First of all, we have to change. We have to strip away our fears. We have to know we won’t wind up starving on the streets if we start doing what we love.

And, we have to be willing to change how we see things. We have to stop the busy. We have run and run from facing who we really are, and it’s time to see there is no monster inside to be scared of, only a hurt, lost child that needs your embrace. You have more power than you know. We all do.

One of the things that helped me stop being tired of life was realizing that I can control my thoughts. For more information on how to do this, I recommend that you check out my other site at www.thegoodthought.com.

Yes, it’s going to take courage. It’s going to cause people to shun you because you are bold enough to take a stand. It’s going to take learning to say no. But, more important, it’s going to take learning to say yes. To yourself. To life. And to all of us.

You Are Not Required To Set Yourself On Fire To Keep Other People Warm

1526876_898281953535489_1613776725284961521_n

Your hair is singed from all the times you clipped your own wings just to make someone else happy. Your fingertips, blistered from all the times you forgot about your own needs and gave away what was meant to be yours. Even your voice has been touched by the flame, no longer strong, but shaking and raspy from all the times you wanted to say no, but said yes. You have set yourself on fire to keep others warm, but inside your soul is shivering. Your soul shivers with all the coldness of being forgotten, untouched, and unloved by you.

It’s such an easy thing to get caught up in. You give too much to others, and you are the one left standing out in the cold. You get your value from how much you give to others, rather than by how much you give to yourself. You give too much at the expense of yourself. You do this because you are afraid to look inward, to make the jump, to do what you should to create your own life.

Oh, you have promised yourself you will do it eventually. When the kids are older, when you have more time, when you are retired. When others don’t need you. You have promised and promised, and now you are holding the final match. Dear one, your soul can’t take it any longer. It’s begging you and pleading with you. Your body has been dissolved by the fire. Must you burn your soul, too?

They taught you that your feelings and your needs were unimportant, and so you abandoned yourself. It’s no wonder you don’t feel like it’s safe to be with yourself. You are afraid to acknowledge what you want out of life, what your needs are.

It’s time to change that. Take that last match, strike it, and shine the light on the dusty cobwebs of your heart. It’s time to find a need of your own each day and to honor it. Each day do something just for you. Don’t let anything or anyone stand in the way. Allow healing for yourself. Start listening to what your soul is craving. And do that. Get to know yourself. Listen to your complaints, your fears, and your sadness and honor that, too. Become your own friend. Take that lost self gently by the hand and take it out to play. Let your self trust you again so your true self will emerge from the shadows, and then next?

Watch as you set the whole world on fire. The fireworks will be worth it all, I promise.

I also want to offer a free 15-minute Skype session (1 per person) to anyone who wants help figuring out what their own needs are and how to honor them. Email me at [email protected]  for your free session today.

How To Create A Life That Doesn’t Suck

create a life that doesn't suck

Have you noticed? Something is changing in our world. Countries are now being measured by their gross national happiness  rather than their gross national product. People are realizing they don’t need so much stuff. People are working fewer hours, moving into tiny houses, and spending more time doing things they love. Even,  Americans are rejecting consumerism. People are creating lives they enjoy all week-long, not just on the weekends. So, how can you do this? How can you create a life that doesn’t suck? One that makes you jump out of bed each morning, ready and excited to take on the day?

How To Create A Life That Doesn’t Suck

1. Stop Selfie-Shaming Your Mistakes

create a life that doesn't suck

Our mistakes are there to teach us and making them doesn’t mean we have failed. But, so many of us are afraid to admit we made a mistake, so, instead we pretend we didn’t, and we hide from them. Well, guess what? We will just keep reliving our mistakes until we learn from them. So, save some time by embracing the mistakes you make, and take it as an opportunity to do things differently in the future. Become your own biggest fan, and learn to accept both the light and dark parts inside of you. When you stop the selfie-shaming of your beautiful self, you will also be gentler and more loving towards others, instead of sending judgement their way.

 2. Remember You Are A Unicorn And The World Is Your Rainbow

create a life that doesn't suckRemember, there is no one like you. You have something to offer this world that no one else can. When you figure out why you are here and what your purpose is, your life will take on meaning and you will feel a greater sense of belonging and worth. Have you noticed that those with the most self-confidence are usually offering something to the world? Figure out what you are here for, and start doing it. When you start living your uniqueness, you will also care less about what others think of you. You will stop taking things personally, and will recognize that what others do is about them and not about you. Also, remember, the world is made of energy and you can manifest into being what you believe that you can. If you need more help on knowing how to bring your dreams into being, read my article, ” The Secret To Manifesting An Amazing Life.”

3. Show Double Rainbow Gratitude

Yeah, you know the video of the guy who totally flips out over the double rainbow. That’s the kind of gratitude we should show for the good things in our life. We take so much for granted, and when we take things for granted, we lose our feeling of bliss and joy that could be there for all of life. We start complaining, and when we complain we just attract more negative experiences into our life. Remember when you were a kid, and everything seemed awesome? Somewhere, along the way, we lose that and, we stop belly laughing, doing cartwheels, happy dances, and jumping with delight. Start every day giving thanks. And when I say give thanks, use your whole body to give thanks. Need some inspiration? Follow Jessica’s example.

4. Set Your Roof On Fire

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qR3rK0kZFkg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

We all have a roof we have created over our heads. This roof is filled with the ideas that we believe to be true. This roof holds our comfort zone. The problem is most of these ideas have been programmed by a society that doesn’t always have what’s best for us in mind. We are programmed with fear that says we can’t make a living doing what we love. We are programmed to buy things we don’t need. We are programmed to not question why things have always been done a certain way. Dare to let your roof burn and do things a different way rather than trying to be the same as everyone else. When you let that motherfucker burn, you will start living a life of openness to new ideas and events, and that is when the magic of your life will happen.

how to create a life that doesn't suck

So many of us only live in our heads the majority of the time. We are so stuck in our thoughts and our minds that we forget we have a body. Move your body as much as possible whether it’s through dance, hiking, yoga, or exercise. When our body flows easier, we flow through life easier. Get out of your mind and into your body. Meditation and practicing mindfulness are also great ways to become more conscious of the thoughts we are having. When we learn to be fully present and in the moment, we live with our full bodies rather than just staying stuck in our heads.

The Secret To Manifesting An Amazing Life

secret to manifestingPart of why I created Your Own Life is that I know it is possible to create anything in life that you want. People call me a Super Manifester. I use the power of my thoughts to create the life I want, and I want to teach you to do the same. I recently visualized my next apartment. I visualized that it would be a place of light with a great view. That is exactly what I found.

I just moved in, and decided that I would wash the floor to ceiling windows to show appreciation for the light that was flowing in. I live in Mexico, and I have a house keeper that came with the apartment, and guess what she did yesterday without me even asking? She cleaned every single window in the apartment! I also thought I would find a hummingbird feeder as love hummingbirds. Well, yesterday, as I sat watching the tree in front of my apartment, a hummingbird started flying in between its branches! There are no flowers on this tree, and nothing that would attract a hummingbird, yet there was a hummingbird. I knew that hummingbird was sending me a message that she would come visit as soon as I get the feeder. So, how do I do it? How do I manifest so easily? Here is what works for me.

The Secret To Manifesting The Life You Want

1. Recognize Your Power

You can recognize your power by realizing that you are worthy and that you deserve everything in life that you want. Many of us are afraid to actually get what we want and that blocks the good things in life from coming to us. You deserve to live a life of happiness and joy. Speaking of living in happiness and joy, that brings me to the next secret.

2. Live In Happiness Each Moment

9170d1d84f8abedfc6104f0c7cd14067

We have been programmed to think that we need certain things to be happy, but happiness comes from within. If you don’t feel a sense of joy and contentment from deep within your being, nothing in this temporary world will make you happy. When you make your happiness dependent on another person or thing, you are actually giving your power away and lowering your vibration. When happiness comes from within you, you raise your vibration, which makes it easier to create the things that you want. When you take a moment to feel how beautiful and magical life really is, you won’t be able to stop yourself from feeling an inner joy that will light up not just you but everything in its path.

3. Concentrate On The Feelings That You Want Not The Things

Life will surprise you and give you far more than you ever asked for if you concentrate on how the things that you want will make you feel rather than the actual physical thing you want to see happen. For instance, I decided I wanted clean windows because I wanted to show gratitude and honor the light flowing in my home. Because I concentrated on the feeling of joy that having clean windows would bring to me, I managed to get clean windows without even having to clean them myself.

If you are wanting to be with a certain person, or have a certain job, or you want a certain dream house, concentrate on how having that thing or person will make you feel. And start feeling that way without the person or thing you want. You are then aligning your vibration with what you want. Also, the Universe knows what is best for you, so if, for instance, you want to be in a relationship with a certain person, concentrate on why you want to be with that person. It’s easy to put our own projections on someone and think they hold certain characteristics that they don’t. If you concentrate instead on the feelings you would feel, the way that they make you feel more open, yet safe, the way they bring out your own love, you may attract someone who is even better for you and possesses more of the characteristics that you want.

4. EWOP (Everything Is Working Out Perfectly)

In Hawaii, the shamans practice Huna. The main teaching of Huna is that everything is working out perfectly. There is a great website, EWOP Vision which teaches more about EWOP, and they will even send you a free pair of EWOP Vision glasses to help shift your view when you forget to trust life. You see life really does know what is best for us, and uses every experience to teach us what we need to learn. If you don’t get the job you manifested, it just means there is a better one for you.

If, however, you are in a place where you seem to be destroying everything in your life (being sick all of the time, struggling with jobs, relationships and friendships), this could be a sign that you don’t really want life at all. There may be a hidden part of you that doesn’t really want to exist. So, life is trying to get your attention to come back to it. It is still using the circumstances that you created to show you there really is a better way. Even the hard times are bringing us lessons that we can use to embrace life instead of turning away from life.

5. Show Gratitude

Show gratitude for everything in your life, even the hard stuff. When you feel gratitude, this also helps you feel the inner happiness and peace that is inside you. It also shows life you are thankful for what you have. Don’t you like to be appreciated for the things you do? Well, life does too.

Show gratitude for the water that flows out of your sink each day, for being able to see the sunset, say a thank you to the flowers in your garden that bring beauty to your day. Show gratitude for the fact that you are alive and have a body to be able to express who you are. Thank yourself for creating the things you have created in your life. Thank everything! Show gratitude for the things you do have rather than obsessing on the things you don’t. You won’t be able to not feel joy when you do this. It’s impossible to feel negatively at the same time you are feeling gratitude. Showing gratitude for what you already have is the biggest secret to manifesting.  If you are still struggling with finding gratitude, I would like to end with one of my favorite poems by Rob Brezsny.

I also want to offer a free 15-minute Skype session (1 per person) to anyone who wants help with manifesting the life they want. Email me at [email protected] for your free session today.

Glory in the Highest

excerpted from PRONOIA Is the Antidote for Paranoia

Thousands of things go right for you every day, beginning the moment you wake up. Through some magic you don’t fully understand, you’re still breathing and your heart is beating, even though you’ve been unconscious for many hours. The air is a mix of gases that’s just right for your body’s needs, as it was before you fell asleep.

You can see! Light of many colors floods into your eyes, registered by nerves that took God or evolution or some process millions of years to perfect. The interesting gift of these vivid hues comes to you courtesy of an unimaginably immense globe of fire, the sun, which continually detonates nuclear reactions in order to convert its body into light and heat and energy for your personal use.

Did you know that the sun is located at the precise distance from you to be of perfect service? If it were any closer, you’d fry, and if it were any further away, you’d freeze. Here’s another one of the sun’s benedictions: It appears to rise over the eastern horizon right on schedule every day, as it has since long before you were born.

Do you remember when you were born, by the way? It was a difficult miracle that involved many people who worked hard on your behalf. No less miraculous is the fact that you have continued to grow since then, with millions of new cells being born inside you to replace the old ones that die. All of this happens whether or not you ever think about it.

On this day, like almost every other, you have awoken inside a temperature-controlled shelter. You have a home! Your bed and pillow are soft and you’re covered by comfortable blankets. The electricity is turned on, as usual. Somehow, in ways you’re barely aware of, a massive power plant at an unknown distance from your home is transforming fuel into currents of electricity that reach you through mostly hidden conduits in the exact amounts you need, and all you have to do to control the flow is flick small switches with your fingers.

You can walk! Your legs work wonderfully well. Your heart circulates your blood all the way down to replenish the energy of the muscles in your feet and calves and thighs, and when the blood is depleted it finds its way back to your heart to be refreshed. This blessing recurs over and over again without stopping every hour of your life.

Your home is perhaps not a million-dollar palace, but it’s sturdy and gigantic compared to the typical domicile in every culture that has preceded you. The floors aren’t crumbling, and the walls and ceilings are holding up well, too. Doors open and close without trouble, and so do the windows. What skillful geniuses built this sanctuary for you? How and where did they learn their craft?

In your bathroom, the toilet is functioning perfectly, as are several other convenient devices. You have at your disposal soaps, creams, razors, clippers, tooth-cleaning accessories: a host of products that enhance your hygiene and appearance. You trust that unidentified scientists somewhere tested them to be sure they’re safe for you to use.

Amazingly, the water you need so much of comes out of your faucets in an even flow, with the volume you want, and either cold or hot as you desire. It’s pure and clean; you’re confident no parasites are lurking in it. There is someone somewhere making sure these boons will continue to arrive for you without interruption for as long as you require them.

Look at your hands. They’re astounding creations that allow you to carry out hundreds of tasks with great force and intricate grace. They relish the pleasure and privilege of touching thousands of different textures, and they’re beautiful.

In your closet are many clothes you like to wear. Who gathered the materials to make the fabrics they’re made of? Who imbued them with colors, and how did they do it? Who sewed them for you?

In your kitchen, appetizing food in secure packaging is waiting for you. Many people you’ve never met worked hard to grow it, process it, and get it to the store where you bought it. The bounty of tasty nourishment you get to choose from is unprecedented in the history of the world.

Your many appliances are working flawlessly. Despite the fact that they feed on electricity, which could kill you instantly if you touched it directly, you feel no fear that you’re in danger. Why? Your faith in the people who invented, designed, and produced these machines is impressive.

It’s as if there’s a benevolent conspiracy of unknown people that is tirelessly creating hundreds of useful things you like and need.

There’s more. Gravity is working exactly the way it always has, neither pulling on you with too much or too little force. How did that marvel ever come to be? By some prodigious, long-running accident? It doesn’t really matter, since it will continue to function with astounding efficiency whether or not you understand it.

Meanwhile, a trillion other elements of nature’s miraculous design are expressing themselves perfectly. Plants are growing, rivers are flowing, clouds are drifting, winds are blowing, animals are reproducing. The weather is an interesting blend of elements you’ve never before experienced in quite this combination. Though you may take it for granted, you relish the ever-shifting sensations of light and temperature as they interact with your body.

There’s more. You can smell odors and hear sounds and taste tastes, many of which are quite pleasing. You can think! You’re in possession of the extraordinary gift of self-awareness. You can feel feelings! Do you realize how improbably stupendous it is for you to have been blessed with that mysterious capacity? And get this: You can visualize an inexhaustible array of images, some of which represent things that don’t actually exist. How did you acquire this magical talent?

By some improbable series of coincidences or long-term divine plan, language has come into existence. Millions of people have collaborated for many centuries to cultivate a system for communication that you understand well. Speaking and reading give you great pleasure and a tremendous sense of power.

Do you want to go someplace that’s at a distance? You have a number of choices about what machines to use in order to get there. Whatever you decide—car, plane, bus, train, subway, ship, helicopter, or bike—you have confidence that it will work efficiently. Multitudes of people who are now dead devoted themselves to perfecting these modes of travel. Multitudes who are still alive devote themselves to ensuring that these benefits keep serving you.

Maybe you’re one of the hundreds of millions of people in the world who has the extraordinary privilege of owning a car. It’s a brilliant invention made by highly competent workers. Other skilled laborers put in long hours to extract oil from the ground or sea and turn it into fuel so you can use your car conveniently. The roads are drivable. Who paved them for you? The bridges you cross are potent feats of engineering. Do you realize how hard it was to fabricate them from scratch?

You’re aware that in the future shrinking oil reserves and global warming may impose limitations on your ability to use cars and planes and other machines to travel. But you also know that many smart and idealistic people are diligently striving to develop alternative fuels and protect the environment. And compared to how slow societies have been to understand their macrocosmic problems in the past, your culture is moving with unprecedented speed to recognize and respond to the crises spawned by its technologies.

As you travel, you might listen to music. Maybe you’ve got an MP3 player, a fantastic invention that has dramatically enhanced your ability to hear a stunning variety of engaging sounds at a low cost. Or maybe you have a radio. Through a process you can’t fathom, music and voices that originate at a distance from you have been converted into invisible waves that bounce off the ionosphere and down into your little machine, where they are transformed back into music and voices for you to enjoy.

Let’s say it’s 9:30 a.m. You’ve been awake for two hours, and a hundred things have already gone right for you. If three of those hundred things had not gone right—your toaster was broken, the hot water wasn’t hot enough, there was a stain on the pants you wanted to wear—you might feel that today the universe is against you, that your luck is bad, that nothing’s going right. And yet the fact is that the vast majority of everything is working with breathtaking efficiency and consistency. You would clearly be deluded to imagine that life is primarily an ordeal.

Life Has Ginormous Plans For You (And Why You Should Stop Playing Small)

life plansWe have all been guilty of it. We forget our own value and start playing small. We then attract people into our lives that make us feel that way. And you know what? We play the game with them. We chase after the ones who make us feel less than we are.

The whole world lays before us, but we chase after people who make us feel like we aren’t enough. We set low goals and expectations for ourselves. We plan to just write the book, rather than write a bestseller. We try to just make it through each work day, rather than looking for a job we truly enjoy. We plan to just “get by” in life rather than asking for the ginormous things we deserve.

Why do we keep playing small? We play small because we are afraid of our own power. You know it’s there. You feel the wild thrill of how big you are flowing through your veins, but you are terrified. You are terrified that it’s just an illusion. You are terrified that you will fail. You are afraid if you don’t reach the high expectations that you have set for yourself that you are a failure. And so, you settle for less.

But, guess what? Your life wants so much more than just the small stuff for you. Your life has ginormous plans for you, but you have to own it. Yes, you won’t always reach your ginormous goal the first time you reach for it. That is part of the process of life. And what we perceive as failure isn’t always failure. Sometimes we plan one thing, but life leads us one way, so we can actually become the thing we were meant to be.

We have to learn to trust life. But trusting life, means giving life something in return. You have to show life your worth. Failure is not reaching for the things we want in life. Failure is staying in a relationship with someone who doesn’t show us the true respect and love we deserve. Failure is aiming low. Failure is being afraid to succeed. Failure is playing small.

Admit what you really want. Admit that you deserve it. Admit that you really are enough. Admit that no one can take your enoughness away from you. There is nothing you have to do to be enough. You are enough because you exist. Thank you for all that you are. Now get out there and be ginormous!

I also want to offer a free 15-minute Skype session (1 per person) to anyone who wants help figuring out what ginormous plans life has for you. Email me at [email protected]  for your free session today.

Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow

free your mind

Free your mind and your ass will follow.-George Clinton

George Clinton got it right. Once you free your mind, those parts of you that feel like an ass, that feel not worthy, that feel not good enough, all of those parts will be free, too. Here’s why.

Most of us live with part of our minds trapped within a cage. This is the part of ourselves that we reject. We have thoughts that go through our minds that we label as bad. We judge someone or feel angry or ungrateful, and we feel ashamed about it. We then reject that part of ourselves because that isn’t who we want to be.

When we reject these thoughts, we move them to a place that we can’t access. We put bars around them, label them as “bad”, and throw away the key. Yet, because we have locked these thoughts away, and haven’t let them flow through us,  they are still a part of us. So, they have more power than ever!

When our mind has become a storehouse of those negative thoughts (of which we are unaware of because we have suppressed them), we will attract negative experiences to mirror those negative thoughts that we don’t realize are locked away.

So, if you have had the thought that you are not worthy but have hidden that thought within you, you will continue to attract people and situations in your life that make you feel like you are not worthy. You will blame the other people for how they have made you feel, but, actually, they are a gift. They are only reflecting the idea that you have rejected and have buried in your mind.

If you want to free your mind, you have to let those thoughts surface. When they surface, you will realize you are not those thoughts. We often have to see what we are not before we can see what we are.

You can do this by becoming mindful of your thoughts when they arise. Sit with these thoughts you have about yourself. And instead of judging them as bad, try loving yourself in spite of what you are thinking. It is the feeling of completeness that your mind is actually searching for. That is what it needs to be free. But, it can’t be free if you are keeping parts of yourself hidden.

The secret to freeing your mind is to love yourself no matter what arises. Your heart is the only thing that has the ability to free your mind. Ask yourself why the negative thoughts or emotions you are having are arising. To give you an example, I recently got really angry with someone. This person judged my anger, and the old me would have done the same. But, instead, I went deeper. I asked myself, “Why did I get so angry?” The thing that triggered my anger was this person had criticized me for something nice I had done for them, but they criticized me because, in their eyes, I hadn’t done it “right.”

When I sat with my anger, I went deeper, and realized that I had unhealed pain in my heart. I grew up in a family where I was often criticized. I had many gifts to give as a person, but according to them, there was always a way I could do things better. I realized that this place inside of me was not fully healed. I grieved and let the tears flow as I realized this and gave compassion and love to this place inside of me that felt unloved and “not enough”. In this way, I had made never being “enough” part of my truth. And, I was continuing to attract people and situations that made me feel this way.

Once I saw this, I was able to let this belief go. I knew this wasn’t really true. I began to see all the wonderful gifts I have to give to this world. I began to see my true being. I saw that I was enough and that no one else had the ability to take that away from me. I saw that my anger was a gift for revealing these truths to me. But, if I had judged and avoided the anger, I would have never seen the true cause of the anger and that part of me would have been left unhealed. Instead, I let the love in my heart unlock the bars of my mind.

I encourage you to go deeper when you experience thoughts or emotions you want to avoid. If you are experiencing fear or guilt or anxiety, sit with it. Don’t judge it. Allow it, and you will start to see what is triggering these emotions. The same is true with sadness, worry, or any other thought or emotion that you are used to judging as negative. The truth really will set you free. Let everything else that’s not truth go. Let it out. Unleash it. The kingdom of heaven really is within. We just need to use our hearts to set it free.

Have Your Days Become Busy Habits? How To Break The Routine.

break routine

“I have a deeply hidden and inarticulate desire for something

 beyond the daily life.”-Virginia Woolf

You rush through every day, doing the same thing. Your alarm goes off before you are ready to wake up. You skip breakfast-again. Go through the Starbuck’s drive-thru on your way to work. You have five minutes of free time and use it to scroll through the Facebook feed.  You sit fuming in traffic after work (forgetting that you are the traffic). You eat food that’s bad for you for dinner because you don’t have time to cook. And, you sit in front of the TV after work because you are too tired to do anything else.  If you have any free time at all, you rush to fill it because you know that if you just are, if you just be in the moment, it will be scary.

When was the last time you really felt now?

If you embrace the moment and just be with it, you will have to actually be with yourself and get to know who you really are. Most people avoid doing this because it is scary. Our ego is terrified. Our ego is afraid it will find out that it is nothing.

Our ego will lie to us, and tell us we need to make the best use of time. It will tell us that we have to keep busy to create a life so that one day we will be able to slow down and enjoy it. We do everything we can to defend our busyness. We let ourselves get anxious and upset if our schedule is disrupted, if someone gets in our way, or if traffic blocks us from getting home at our usual time. We rush to get home so we can prolong the busyness because we can’t handle sitting still.

We are so busy that we are busy while we are busy. We don’t just do one thing at a time. We have a conversation via text message with one friend while we only half-listen to the friend who is sitting in front of us. We catch up on the news while we eat our dinner. We look for ways to get things done faster and better than we did yesterday. After a week of vacation, we dread coming back to our real lives. We use “being busy” to feel important and validated and to escape our true selves.

We never stop.

The result is we are never fully present for one single moment in our lives. We have food in the refrigerator, but we don’t even remember how it got there. We got home, but we missed the scenery along the way. We don’t remember a single thing our friend told us about themselves at lunch because we were too caught up with our own thoughts to really listen. We live life like it is a race, but we forget that the only thing waiting for us at the finish line will be ourselves.

how to break the routine

Yes, you will be the only one waiting for you, but will you recognize yourself when you get there? Your soul has given you this time on earth to create who you really are, to manifest into physical reality your own glorious being. Are you getting so caught up in what’s not real that you have forgotten this? Every source of unhappiness is this. If you are unhappy, it’s because you have forgotten who you are. And who you are wants to be noticed. By you. You are the only one that can give yourself the love, the attention, and the glory that you so desperately crave. Not your accomplishments, not getting through your to-do list, not making more money than you need.

Do you want to start feeling like there is plenty of time to get everything done? Do you want to start enjoying every part of your life? Yes, even the stuck in traffic parts.

Instead of a busy life, live a full life!

It all boils down to how fully present can you be with yourself. It’s about choosing to feel gratitude for each moment and learning that each moment is what you make it. Stop comparing your life to others and stop trying to outrun everyone else on the treadmill. (Trust me, they are tired or running nowhere, too.)

How can you be present? By remembering there is only now. By being in the now. By allowing those feelings you have repressed for so long to come to the surface. By being with them. Embracing them. Fully be in each moment by fully being with yourself and by fully being with others.

Break the routine

Break the routine. Talk to new people everyday. Be the one to strike up the conversation that everyone else is too afraid to have. Reveal something to someone who makes you feel vulnerable. Take the time to truly savor your food. Eat your lunch outside. In the sunlight. Or, in the snow. Let your inner child play hookie now and then. Leave work early on Fridays. Change your schedule. Buy a plane ticket and go somewhere new. By yourself. Write a letter to yourself. Let yourself daydream. Take the time to find out what you really want from this life.

And then, be it. Notice, I didn’t say do it. There is nothing you need to do, my friend. You just are. Feel the joy in each moment. Feel the joy of being you. Or feel the heartbreak. Feeling the heartbreak and acknowledging its presence will eventually lead you to the joy that you are. Because your heart wants to split wide open. That’s the only way. Let the light in, and feel yourself shine.

I also want to offer a free 15-minute Skype session (1 per person) to anyone who feels like they need help creating their beautiful life. Email me at [email protected] for your free session today.

How To Calm Down And Banish Anxiety For Good

how to calm down
It’s easy to let stress, our emotions, and anxiety affect our sense of calm, especially during the hectic holiday season. But when we let ourselves get carried away, we don’t just affect our mind. This stress takes a toll on our body and causes a sense of imbalance in our lives. We then become unable to cope with situations that we normally would have the ability to handle.

The first thing to do is to start checking in with your body throughout the day. Notice how you are feeling. Many times our sense of calm can be upset without us even realizing it. The time to start with these practices is when you first notice that you aren’t feeling calm. Once you notice this, here are my suggestions on how to calm down.

1. Breathe

While meditating has tremendous benefits in helping to bring a sense of calm to one’s life, you don’t have to do a full mediation session to bring a sense of peace to each moment. Try to set time for regular breathing sessions during the day. Instead of mindlessly scrolling through the Facebook feed next time you have a few minutes of free time, take a few deep breaths. Just for a minute, keep your mind on your breath. You will find that you return to the moment much more relaxed and centered.

2. Spend Time In Solitude

Even extroverts need time alone. When we are around people, our energy is affected, and if we don’t take time alone to recharge our batteries, we can find ourselves stressed without knowing why. If you don’t live alone, go out in nature and spend time with yourself. When you spend time alone, especially in silence, you will find that you can hear yourself and access your intuition better as well.

3. Listen To Binaural Beats To Calm Down

Binaural Beats cause a hypnotic response in the brain and can do wonders to calm you down instantly. They work best when listened to with headphones, and there are many free ones for a variety of symptoms available on YouTube. I listen to them daily when I am working on my computer. They are also great to listen to as you drift off to sleep at night.

4. Dance

The majority of us live only in our heads. We have an entire body, but we spend most of our time in our minds. When we move our bodies, we lose some of our obsession with being in our minds, and we will notice an immediate sense of calm. You can get this effect with any activity or exercise which forces you to be in your body, but my favorite activity is dancing. You don’t need to go out to dance. You can have a dance party in your own living room. Freely express yourself and let yourself go.

5. Use Essential Oils To Help You Relax

Most of us know the soothing effects that lavender can have on the body, but there are many other scents that can help with different types of anxiety. Frankincense is my favorite for calming a busy mind, while jasmine is great for anxiety. Vetiver is great for sleeping and for relieving jet lag. I prefer to get the benefits of essential oils by using a diffuser, but you can also get their benefits by putting them in a foot bath or mixing them with a carrier oil and wearing them as perfume. One of the most relaxing things to do is to put them in your bath water.

What ways do you use to calm down? Let me know in the comments below!

I also want to offer a free 15-minute Skype session (1 per person) to anyone who feels like they have issues in their life that they want help with. I can give advice and help you move through your life and its challenges with a sense of calm and well being and less anxiety. Email me at [email protected] for your free session today.

You Think You Have Time

you think you have time

I’ll live where I want when I retire. I’ll get to it later. I’ll just work in the corporate world for ten years, and then I will create a life I enjoy. I’ll do it tomorrow.

How many times have we promised ourselves tomorrow only to find it never arrives? In today’s world, we often put aside our dreams for comfort, our passions for security, and we let our fears take away our power. We choose unfulfilled lives for freedom, thinking that we can always do it differently tomorrow.

People don’t follow their dreams because they are afraid. They are afraid of losing security. They are afraid if they do what they want, they will die. They have become comfortably numb.

What should scare them is that life is short. The reality is if we don’t follow our purpose, our passions, our joys, that’s when the death begins. And the soul’s death is one hundred times worse than the body’s.

The problem is we aren’t guaranteed tomorrow. We are only guaranteed this present moment. And we are telling the Universe who we are by the actions we display in only this moment. That’s it. That’s all we have. That’s who we are.

We also miss some of the most special moments of our lives because we think we will have time for them later. We tell ourselves that we will do the things we enjoy when we retire. We will go fishing, we will travel, create art, we will do so much…..later. But, later never comes. There is always something standing in the way.

So, I want to propose that we change this way of thinking. I want to propose that we encourage and inspire each other. I propose that we start a Twitter campaign now. Let’s take the world by storm. You think you have time, but right now, time has you. Let’s change this.

Using the hashtag, #youthinkyouhavetime write your dreams, the thing you always wanted to do. But, don’t stop there. Write about the things in each day that bring you joy. Write about the things that you are saving until later. Write the name of your favorite beach. You know. The one that’s your screen saver that you promised yourself you would visit later.

Let’s get inspired. Let’s find a way to do them now.

I also want to offer a free 15-minute Skype session to anyone who wants guidance to start living their dreams now. Because time is running out. And, I want to help. #youthinkyouhavetime. Let’s do it now.

Email me at [email protected] to get some encouragement from me, and let’s all make use of the time that we have. Let’s change the world one second at a time.

1. Sari Organik

If you want a true Bali experience with a setting in the rice fields, go to Sari Organik. They have delicious, healthy, organic farm-to-table cuisine and fresh juices. Most of the food comes from the restaurant’s own farm. Go at sunset for the best views.

2.  Bali Buda

The food at Bali Buda is fresh, nutritious, and vegetarian, with many vegan and gluten-free options. They also have a great selection of fresh juices, kombucha, and homemade ice cream that’s to die for. Hint: Choose the raw cacao. One thing to note, there is no wi-fi at Bali Buda.

3.  Juice Ja

Juice Ja has a variety of organic vegetable and fruit juices, wheatgrass shots, as well as salads and sandwiches. It’s a nice place to hang out and relax with a book, or meet other travelers. I highly recommend any of the juices that include turmeric.  I like the fresh tuna salad the best.

 4. Kafe

Kafe  is owned by Yoga Barn and is the meeting place for yogis and alike. They have a huge choice of fresh juices and smoothies, as well as a delightful menu. The staff is friendly and it’s a very relaxed place.  This place stays busy, and is a great place to meet new people.

5. The Melting Wok

Reservations are a must at The Melting Wok, as the place is small. They specialize in curry and fried noodles.  The fusion of Thai, Laotian, and French flavors and flair make this place a wonderful spot to eat.  The staff is very welcoming and attentive. Don’t miss the crème brûlée.

6.  Indus Restaurant

The view over the gorge and the decor is fabulous. Indus Restaurant  is owned and operated by an Australian women and reflects the true Balinese culture mixed with modern western cuisine.  The beef curry is fabulous.

7. Cafe Seniman

Cafe Seniman is more of a coffee shop than a restaurant, but they definitely deserve a mention on this list. They have the best coffee in Bali. Their cold drip coffee is perfect for the heat, and if you aren’t a coffee drinker, they also have a great green cleansing juice each day. The wi-fi is some of the best in Ubud. They have their own micro-roastery, so you know you are getting the freshest beans around. They also serve all day breakfast and have excellent cakes and desserts.

8.  Bebek Bengil-Dirty Duck Diner

Bali is known for its duck, and Bebek Bengil-Dirty Duck Diner is the place to get it. This restaurant is really close to Ubud Aura Retreat Centre, so you can walk there in just a few minutes. Bali ducks are small, so one person can easily eat a whole duck. Wander around in the rice fields out back for some great photos.

9.  The Seeds Of Life

The Seeds of Life specializes in clean vibrant living foods, and fast became one of my favorite restaurants in Ubud. I have never had raw food that was so delicious and prepared so beautifully and with such care. They have incredible teas, tonics, and elixirs and some of the best desserts around. My favorites were the Mexican lasagna and the raw pizza.
